PMR446 (Walkie-Talkies)

License-free. Channel 8 (446.09375 MHz) is widely used for general calling and emergency coordination.

HAM Radio (Amateur)

Requires a license. 145.500 MHz (2m) and 433.500 MHz (70cm) are standard UK calling frequencies.

Gov Broadcasts

In a national emergency, tune to BBC Radio 4 (92-95 FM or 198 LW). This is the designated station for government instructions.
